Task Force made up of a people, <br />stakeholders, <br />• Decide where want to spend money preserving lands <br />Focus of Acquisition: <br />• Other categories to purchase <br />• Prime agricultural land, which has good soil and <br />irrigation <br />Rights to draw water off of, which makes the land more <br />valuable <br />3. Guilford County, NC (Roger Bardsley (336) 574 -3544) <br />Note: All of the governments within Guilford County use some <br />version of the county's policy (Flood Plain Dedication only), <br />although some drift has occurred since 1992 when it was <br />created. <br />Methods of Acquiring Land: <br />• Require dedication of field plain open space if the land <br />falls within the 100 -year flood plain <br />• Open space for watershed policy <br />• Over past 15 years got 1000 acres <br />• Bonds - about 2000 acres through bonds <br />• Have a greenway plan <br />• Offer of dedication if Parks and Recreation Department <br />wants <br />• Some dedicated to the North Carolina Conservancy by <br />the developer, then deeded over to the county <br />• No requirement for dedication if clustering (RS -20). <br />Could zone at a lower level (RS -12) though and <br />dedicate about -15% as open space <br />Focus of Acquisition: <br />Dedication has.,to be connected to public interest <br />100 Year Flood Plain easy to see that in - no <br />development possibility for developers <br />
