Carrboro Recreation and Parks Commission reviews the plan and <br />makes recommendations for changes to keep this plan current. The <br />main purpose of the document is to provide the Town of Carrboro with <br />an accurate, usable plan to guide its actions and decisions, concerning: <br />➢ The future recreation role for the Town; <br />➢ Park and greenway acquisitions, renovations and developments; <br />➢ Facility renovations and developments; and <br />➢ Recreation programming strategies. <br />The Recreation and Parks Comprehensive Plan contains numerous <br />specific proposals and recommendations too lengthy for inclusion <br />herein. The projected timetable of the Plan is through the year 2015. <br />At this time, it is projected that the Town will have "built -out" its <br />present planning jurisdiction. For further information, please refer to <br />the Executive Summary or full Comprehensive Plan report for <br />accompanying proposals, tables, exhibits and maps. <br />Hillsborough Park and Recreation Plan <br />The Town's Master Plan goals would: <br />1. Use the Town's natural and historical heritage as a recreational resource <br />2. Acquire and maintain a neighborhood park for informal use in each <br />neighborhood <br />3. Meet the recreational needs of the Town's diverse population <br />4. Acquire and maintain playing fields, courts and other facilities for organized <br />sports and fitness <br />5. Provide safe, convenient, and efficient travelways for non - motorized <br />transportation of all people in Hillsborough. <br />6. Actively seek participation and cooperation of all organizations involved in, or <br />concerned with the provision of recreational services in the Hillsborough area. <br />
