What is your current capacity to <br />serve Latino children and families? <br />What is your plan for serving Latino children and families once they <br />come to the library? The Board is concerned that introductory tours <br />and interest in the library will not be supported unless there are. library <br />staff available who are bilingual and bicultural. <br />Program <br />• We would like to see outreach efforts to more sites in the community <br />where Latino children and families are already accessing services. <br />Our staff will be glad to work with you in identifying other agencies to <br />work with such as family resource centers, Piedmont Health services, <br />Child Care Services Association, etc. <br />• Will you be providing. instructions and training to parents. on .how to use <br />these materials with their children? <br />• Materials development: We would like to see you establish an advisory <br />committee, including parents, to help in the development of Traveling <br />Treasures to make sure that materials are relevant and interesting to <br />families. <br />• Will transportation to the library~be available on an ongoing basis? <br />How will families know about these services, including public <br />transportation? <br />• Evaluation: We would like to see the evaluation expanded to include <br />direct feedback. from parents about how there are using. the materials. <br />We trust that you will be able to incorporate. these components into your <br />efforts, but please let us know immediately if you have any difficulty with <br />this request.
