Moore <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: ext. 2250 <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider providing funds in the amount of $5,000 to La Fiesta del Pueblo and to <br />become a sponsoring partner with the towns of Chapel Hill and Carborro for La Fiesta Del Pueblo. <br />BACKGROUND: La Fiesta del Pueblo, is a Hispanic cultural festival, founded by El Pueblo, a non- <br />profit organization, to share the rich cultural diversity of the Hispanic Community with Orange County <br />residents. La Fiesta del Pueblo has grown over the years and now draws more than 30,000 people to <br />Orange County over the weekend. This year the festival will be held September 18th and 19t'' at Chapel <br />Hill High School. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: $5,000 <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the County Commissioners <br />appropriate $5,000 from the Commissioner's Contingency Fund to La Fiesta del Pueblo to offset <br />the costs associated with the festival. <br />
