Mr. Bowles has been very helpful throughout this process in <br /> answering questions, obtaining copies of required NFIP records and being available to assist <br /> during the field work conducted just prior to this visit. <br /> In order to participate in the NFIP, your community has been required to establish, administer, <br /> and enforce a floodplain management program that meets or exceeds the minimum standards <br /> established by the NFOP as set forth in Title 44, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Section <br /> 60.3. Though participation in the NFIP is voluntary for communities meeting NFIP standards, <br /> that participation allows local citizens to obtain affordable flood insurance through the NFIP as <br /> well as receive most other state and federal disaster assistance. Of greatest importance,the goal <br /> of participation in the NFIP is to reduce the loss of lives and property. As observed in working <br /> . with your staff during this visit,this vision is understood by Orange County. Your community's <br /> commitment to sound floodplain management is apparent in the conservation of your floodplain <br /> in its natural and undeveloped state.
