' <br />C, Norman Walker, Chairman <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />May 10, 1973 <br />The Board of County Commissioners met in specs&1 session on Thursday, May _ <br />10, 1973, in the District Courtroom at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Members Present: Chairmar_ C. Norman Walker, and Commissioners Benry S. ' <br />Walker, Ira A. Ward, Flora Garrett and Richard E. Whitt ed. <br />Members Absent: Tdone. <br />This meeting was held in order that the Board might hear Pat Adkins, <br />Regional Coordinator far the Governors Council for the Aging, discuss the <br />possibility of creating a County-T,Jide Council on the Aging. <br />j -- <br />'~"• Alderman Fred Chamblee was present representing the Town of Carrboro. <br />. 'Council .Tohn Roberts was present representing the Town of Hillsborough. Alderman <br />Srirley , Ross Scrogga and Joa Nasiff were present representing the <br />Town of Chapel Hi11. These representatives were invited to attend this meeting <br />as the program for the Council for the Aging wa= of mutual interest to each <br />governmental ur_it. Considerable discussion ensued ea how a Council on the Aging <br />would be organized and would function, The programs presently in affect in the <br />Town of Chanel Hi11 was reviewed. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner Richard <br />E. Whitted, it was moved and adopted, Orange County would participate in a <br />County-Wide Council on the Aging and that it would support the program up to <br />but not exceeding the amount of $3,D00.00. <br />There being no further bus~neas to coma before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned. <br />C, Norman Walker, Chairman <br />S, M.
