ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: February 17, 2009
Action Agenda
Item No. /-1-b-(n1
SUBJECT: Orange-Person-Chatham Area Programs Board--Reappointments
DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No
ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover INFORMATION CONTACT:
Membership Roster Clerk's Office, 245-2130
Letter of Recommendation
Application(s)/Resume(s) of Person(s)
Recommended
Interest List
PURPOSE: To consider making reappointments to Orange-Person-Chatham Area Programs
Board.
BACKGROUND: The Clerk's office has received recommendations from Orange-Person-
Chatham Area Programs Board for Dr. Lynn Ikenberry and Sandra Herring. If appointed Dr.
Ikenberry will be serving her first full term ending 12/31/2011, Ms. Herring will be serving her
third full term ending 12/31/2011.
OPC has let us know that legislation was passed which speaks to appointments to mental
health boards. Their Board by-laws reflect those requirements as follows: "Members shall not
be appointed for more than two consecutive terms. Area Board members serving as of July 1,
2006 may remain on the Area Board for an additional term." Based on these guidelines Ms.
Herring is eligible for an additional term on the OPC Board; she fills a mandated seat on
the Board; and she has expressed interest in continuing to serve.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION(S): Consider making reappointments to Orange-Person-Chatham Area
Programs Board.
