Hall and Orange Coonty," <br />adaptec# a resolution regarding general support for interlocal water conservation <br />strategies, and directed staff to cantiaaue collaborative work paz these water <br />conservation initiatives. Three of the near term recommendations contained <br />within the resoiutivra were: <br />~. Local govemrnertis anci OWASA should conduct water use audits arEd <br />cost effective water conservation retrofit projects at local gavernment- <br />owrEed and managed properties, rhos "leadiryg by example"; <br />2. The Tr~wns, County, and OUIIASA shouid continue to irtrarporate and <br />farrr~alize our caileGtive commitments to state-of-the-art water use <br />efficiency in the design oaf new local governrr~ent-owned and managed <br />properties and, where prat#ical anct cost-effective, 9n renovated locai <br />government owned aald managed properties; grad <br />3.~ The Towns, County, and OV1lASA should develop s~astainabie landscape <br />guidelines aa~d .requirements to ensure that landscape and irrigation <br />system design, lrtstailatiQn and maintenance are rraore water efficient and <br />enviranrnentaliy friendly than #radittanai practices. Such measures could <br />include limits ora the amount of turf that can be estabaishec! on a givara site <br />and irrigated with OWASA-suppiied potable wafer, as we11 as <br />rega.~irerrterets for the placement anc~ design of the irrigation systerrts. The <br />use of harvested rainwater and reclaimed water would be encouraged as <br />alternatives to potable OWASA water. <br />Other~Wark Groups. The need for water conservation strategies with the other <br />water providers in ttae county has been periodicaily discussed during the past <br />few years. in particular, ti-ais topic vv2ES addressed in part by the Water <br />Conseavatioa~ Drclinance Salbcommittee, createei from the ErEO Confluence f i in <br />October 20x6.
