Hall and Orange Coonty," adaptec# a resolution regarding general support for interlocal water conservation strategies, and directed staff to cantiaaue collaborative work paz these water conservation initiatives. Three of the near term recommendations contained within the resoiutivra were: ~. Local govemrnertis anci OWASA should conduct water use audits arEd cost effective water conservation retrofit projects at local gavernment- owrEed and managed properties, rhos "leadiryg by example"; 2. The Tr~wns, County, and OUIIASA shouid continue to irtrarporate and farrr~alize our caileGtive commitments to state-of-the-art water use efficiency in the design oaf new local governrr~ent-owned and managed properties and, where prat#ical anct cost-effective, 9n renovated locai government owned aald managed properties; grad 3.~ The Towns, County, and OV1lASA should develop s~astainabie landscape guidelines aa~d .requirements to ensure that landscape and irrigation system design, lrtstailatiQn and maintenance are rraore water efficient and enviranrnentaliy friendly than #radittanai practices. Such measures could include limits ora the amount of turf that can be estabaishec! on a givara site and irrigated with OWASA-suppiied potable wafer, as we11 as rega.~irerrterets for the placement anc~ design of the irrigation systerrts. The use of harvested rainwater and reclaimed water would be encouraged as alternatives to potable OWASA water. Other~Wark Groups.
