~.- , '7 F~sE 534 <br />This meeting was held for the purpose oP meeting with the recentlp <br />appointed members of the County Recreation Study Commission. All members <br />of the Recreation Study Commission were present, <br />Discussion ensued concerning various ideas about what might be <br />accomplished by the Commission. The question of a budget for the use of <br />the Commission was brought before the $oard and it was suggested that <br />the Commission prepare a budget request that could be presented to the <br />Board. Tt was decided that by January 1, 197G., the Recreation Commission <br />was to submit their plans and proposals to the Board. <br />Don Cox, president of the Eno preservation Society was present and he <br />suggested to the members of the Commission that the4 should consider the <br />possibilities of the Eno River and the recently organized Fish and Wildlife -- <br />Club in their study. It was suggested that all departments oP government <br />be urged to cooperate to the fullest extent with the Recreation Study Commission. <br />There being no further business to coma before the $oard the meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on Monday, February 26, 1973, <br />C. Gatti s, Acting Clerk <br />P"1-NLPI ES OF THE ORAN(}E COUNTY <br />BO_~RD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />February 26, 1973 <br />The Board of County Commisaianers of Orange Countp met in special joint <br />session with the County planning Board on Monday, February 26, 1973, in the <br />Superior Courtroom of the Courthouse in Hillsborough at 7;30 p,nq, <br />Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker and Coea1iasionars Henry S. <br />Walker, Ira A, Ward, Flora Garrett and Richard E, Whitted, <br />Members Absent; None, <br />Chairman Norman Walker announced that this was the time and place For the <br />duly advertised public hearing on zoning matters. Chairman Walker turned the <br />chair over to Charles W, Johnston, Chairman of the County planning Board, <br />Mr. Johnston conducted the public hearing, For details of this hearing ses <br />minutes of the Crange County planning Board, <br />At the conclusion of the public hearing Chairman Johnston turned the <br />chair back to Chairman Walker and Chairman Walker then adjourned the public <br />hearing, <br />Chairman Norman Walker convened a meeting of the Orange County Board oP <br />Commissioners, <br />- William C. Ray reported to the Board on the matter of acquisition of land <br />easements, These easements are located on the main branch of the Eno North <br />of Lake Orange and are being acquired Por the purpose of constructing a <br />sediment structure. Mr, Ray stated that this final sediment structure will <br />control. the sediment for the remaining two-thirds of the area above the lake <br />and the estimated coat would be approximately X71,000,00 with eighty (8C~) <br />twentent oaf the coat being supplied by Federal programs and the remaining <br />y (20,x) percent of the post being provided by local government, He <br />stated that all but two of the property owners had agreed to sign the needed <br />land easements, however, the County would have to agree to develop a two <br />foot (2~) in-depth water line around the proposed sediment structure, This <br />water line would eliminate moat of the weed problems and other growth that <br />occur in shallow water, He stated that he estimated it would coat $1,000.00 <br />to install the requested water line, Discussion ensued. <br />~~! <br />
