~± ~ F'~E 53~ <br />This meeting wsa held for the purpose of meeting with the recently <br />appointed members of the County Recreation Study Commission. All members <br />o£ the Recreation Study Commission were present. <br />Discussion ensued concerning various ideas about what might be <br />accomplished by the Commission. The question of a budget for the use of <br />the Commission was brought before the Board and it was suggested that <br />the Commission prepare a budget request that could be presented to the <br />Board. It was decided that by January 1, ].q7!}, the Recreation Commission - <br />was to submit their plena and proposals to the Board. <br />Don Cox, President of the Eno Preservation Societe wsa present and he <br />suggested to the members of the Commission that they should consider the <br />posaibiliti.ea of the Eno River and the recently organized Fiah and Wildlife <br />Club in their study. It was suggested that all deoartmenta of government <br />be urged to aooperata to the fullest extent with the Recreation Study Commission. <br />Thera being no further business to come before the Board the meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on Monday, February 26, 1973. <br />C. Gatti s, Acting Clerk <br />MINTITES OF TEE ORANI}E COIINTY <br />BOARD OF COMPtCSSZONERS <br />February 26, 1973 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in special joint <br />session with the County Planning Board on Monday, February 26, 1973, in the <br />Superior Courtroom of the Courthouse in Hillabvrough at 7:30 P.Si. <br />Members Present: Chairman C. Norman ~rlalker and Commissioners Henry S. <br />inlalker, Tra A. Ward, Flora Garrett and Richard E. Whitted. <br />Members Absent: None. <br />Chairman Norman Walker annvunoed that this was the time and place for the <br />duly advertised public hearing on zoning matters. Chairman 47allser turned the <br />chair Over to Charles W. Johnston, Chairman of the County planning Board. <br />Mr. Johnston conducted the public hearing. For details of this hearing see <br />minutes of the Orange County Planning Board. <br />At the conclusion of the public hearing Chairman Johnston turned the <br />chair beak to Chairman Walker and Chairman Walker then adjourned the public <br />hearing. <br />Chairman Norman Walker convened a meeting of the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners. <br />William C. Ray reported to the Board on the matter of acquisition of land <br />easements. These easements era located on the main branch of the Eno North <br />of Lake Orange and are being acquired for the purpose of constructing a <br />sediment atruature. Mr. Ray stated that this final sediment structure will <br />control the sediment for the remaining two-thirds of the area above the lake <br />and the estimated coat would be approximately X71,000.00 with eighty (80~) <br />per cent of the cost being supplied by Fadaral programs and the remaining <br />twenty (20°x) percent of the coat being provided by 1ooe1 government. Re <br />stated that all but two of the property owners had agreed to Sian the needed <br />land easements, however, the County would have to agree to dagalop a two <br />foot (2~) in-depth water line around the proposed sediment structure. This <br />water line would eliminate most of the weed problems and other growth that <br />occur in shallow water. Ee stated that he estimated it would coat $1,000.00 <br />to install the requested water line. Discussion ensued. <br />-_-= <br />
