M. on Monday, January 15, 1973. <br />Members Present; Chairman C. Norman Walker and Commissioners Henry $. <br />Tnfalker, Ira A. Ward, Flora Garrett and Richard Whitted. <br />-__ Members Absent: None <br />Representatives of the Association for the Preservation of the Eno River <br />Valley were present. Slides of the river, flower and animal life were <br />presented. A discussion followed the preeentation. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, January 16, 1973, at 7:30 P.M. <br />C. Gatti s, Acting Clerk <br />MIPTOTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD 0~' COMMISSIONERS <br />January 16, 1973 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in regular session <br />at 7;30 P. M. on Tuesday, January 16, 1973, 'in the District Courtroom of the <br />Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />r"" <br />• Members Pineaent; Chairman C. Norman Wal'der and Commi.asionera Henry S. Walker, <br />Tra A. Ward, Flora Qarrett and Richard Whitted. <br />.. Members Absent: None <br />Lloyd Senter, representing the South Orange Rescue Squad, and Bynum <br />Weaver of the Chapel Hi11 Funeral Home, were present to review and discuss with <br />the Board the ambulance service that was currently being provided for the area. <br />Mr. Senter reported that the South Orange Reacua Squad had fifty one <br />members, several vehicles and items of personal property that was valued in <br />excess of $33,000.00, and that during the past year 822 c~sea had been <br />answered by the Squad. He stated that the Squad, with financial sasistanae <br />from the County, hoped to build a building that would house the vehicles, <br />provide a plane for the training of the members, serve as headquarters for <br />the unit. <br />Bynum Weaver of the Chapel Hi11 Funeral Home stated that his company <br />had been rendering ambulance service for a number of years, He stated that <br />he was of the opinion that the company was providing adequate service in the <br />Chapel Hill area, however, without the assistaace of the South Orange Rescue <br />Squad there were tan many cases for his company to answer. The two <br />representatives agreed that the two agencies were not competing against each <br />other. <br />Tha Board advised Mr. Weaver and Mr. Senter that they felt the County <br />must take an overall look at the matter of ambulance service before reaching <br />any conclusion on the present matter. They were further advised that the <br />question of duplication of aezwiae in the Chanel Hi11 area had arisen sa a <br />matter that would have to be settled before financial assistance could be <br />- allocated to the South Orange Rescue Squad. The Board agreed that a decision <br />would be reached by March 1, 1973. <br />
