Ray, seconded by Commissioner <br />Norman Walker, it was moved and adopted, that Sohn Forrest be appointed the <br />fire and building inspector for the purpose of serving the needs of the <br />Department of Social Services on a Countywide basis. <br />Discussion ensued as to the fees which should be charged for these <br />-. official inspections. The Board agreed that the Social Services Director <br />should negotiate a suitable fee with the electrical inspector and that the <br />_ director was to report back tv the Board in order to secure the &AAPOVal <br />- of the inspection fee. <br />The County Administrator advised the Board that the current County <br />Electrical Tnapector, 0. A, Evans was currently being employed by Orange <br />County on a temporary basis and that Mr, Evans was not pleased with this <br />current arrangement. Mr. Gattia stated that Mr. Evans had been performing <br />satisfactorily and that he was afraid that Mr, Evans would accept employment <br />elsewhere unless his position *.vas made permanent, therefore, he renotrmiended <br />that the Board make permanent the position of County Electrical Tnapector. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner SJilliam C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner <br />Henry S. Walker, it was moved and adopted, that the position of County <br />Electrical Inspector become a permanent position. <br />Chairman Bennett advised the Board that .there were vacancies on the <br />County Planning Board and the Chapel Rill Planning Board. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Tra A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner William <br />C. Ray, it was moved and adopted, that Donald Wells of Glen Heights, Chapel <br />FI311, North Carolina be appointed for a three year term as a member of the <br />Chapel Hi11 Planning Board. Said term is immediately effective. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Tra A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner William <br />C, Ray, it was moved and adopted, that Leon Yates of Erwin Road, Durham, North r <br />Carolina, be appointed to a full tern as a member of the County Planning <br />Board. Said term is immediately effective, <br />i <br />Chairman Sennett presented a letter from Ebert L. Pierce, County Extension <br />Chairman. Said letter requested the approval of certain appointees on the <br />Orange County Extension Advisory Board for a three year period ending July 1, <br />1975. <br />'Open motion of Commissioner Prorman Walker, seconded by Commissioner <br />- Henry S. Walker, it was moved and adopted, that Jack Rutaherson, Curtis B, <br />Farrington, Col. William H. Breeze, Mrs. Clyde Roberta and Mrs. John H. <br />Jeffries be appointed for a three year period as members of the Orange County <br />Extension Advisory Board. <br />Commissioner William C. Ray brought to the attention of the Board the <br />fact that State employees and County employees were not being granted the same <br />holidays and that certain offices in the courthouse were remaining open while <br />others were being closed and that he was requesting the Board to consider , <br />granting the County employees the same holidays that were granted to State <br />employees. Discussion ensued, <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner <br />Norman Walker, it was moved and adopted, that the County employees be <br />granted the same holidays as State employees in order to standardize the i <br />holiday schedules. <br />The Register of Deeds advised the Board that the *lorth Carolina <br />Assooiation of Registers of Deeds were proposing to revise the current fees <br />being collected in that office, She stated that in some instanoea the <br />proposed schedule would increase the fees from fifty to one hundred percent <br />(50~ to 100) and she could not justify this percentage increase and that i <br />she wanted the feeling of the $oard relative to the matter, bisauseion <br />ensued. - <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner <br />Tra A. Ward, it was moved and adopted, that the Register of Deeds not endorse <br />- more than a twenty percent (20p) increase in the fee schedule for that office. <br />~~: <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting <br />adjourned. <br />Faroey D.
