P".I?PJTES CF THE ORAidGE COUNTY '.{ '7 ; ~,.~ 4$~ <br />BOARD OP COMP4ISSIONERS <br />September ~, 197 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Prange County met in regvJ_ar session <br />in the Conference Room of the Social Services Building on Tuesday, September 5, <br />1972, at 10:00 o~oloak A. M. <br />Members Present: Commissioners Henry ~. Walker, William C. Ray and Ira <br />A. Ward. Commissioner Norman Walker was present for the afternoon session. <br />Members Absent: Chairman Harvey D.'Bennett <br />In the absence of the Chairman, Vice Chairman Henry S. Walker presided <br />at the meeting. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by.Commissioner William <br />C, Ray, tt was moved and adopted, that the Board dispense with the reading <br />of the minutes. <br />`lice Chairman Henry Walker recognized L, ?~I. Cheshire, Tr. Mr. Cheshire <br />introduced Clayton Haithcock, the new Zoning Officer. <br />P~Ir. Cheshire requested the Board to schedule a date, time and place for a <br />public hearing on recent zoning requests. Disouasion ensued concerning the <br />possibility of establishing a definite date and time for all public hearings: <br />Commissioner Ira A. Ward moved that Monday, September 25, 197p, at 8 P.M. <br />at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina be designated as the public <br />hearing on zoning matters. ' <br />The following plate were presented: <br />1. Lot l0 ~iwin Carden property, University Station Road, Eno Township. <br />Mr. Cheshire advised the Board that a percolation teat had been conducted by <br />the District Health Department and the County Planning Board--did-approve said <br />plat. <br />Upon motior_ of Commissioner William C, Ray, seconded by Commissioner Ira <br />A. Ward, the Edwin Carden plat wsa approved for recording. <br />2. property of C. Dupree Smith, St. Mary~a R oad, Eno Township. Mr. <br />Cheshire stated that this property had undergone a percolation test and the <br />County Planning Board did approve said plat. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner William <br />C. Ray, the C. Dupree Smith plat was approved for recording. <br />~. Strayhorn Hills located on Old #10, r''ho Township. <br />The Board was advised that the County Planning Board had approved the <br />recording of said plat. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, second®d by Commissioner Ira A. <br />Ward, it was moved and adopted, that Strayhorn Rills plat be approved for <br />recording. <br />B. B. Olive stated that he noted that the back portion of the Strayhorn <br />Hills Subdivision lot abuted a railroad track. He suggested that the Board <br />inolude a provision in the planning ordinance that the deve7,oper of ?7z~opsrtp <br />that ad~•oined or abuted a railroad track be required to fence off the property <br />at the railroad track, Commissioner Ward suggested that the Planning Officer <br />advise the County Planning Board of this recommendation. <br />Vice Chairman Henry S. walker recognized B. B. Olive. Mr. Olive stated <br />that he wsa present to petition the Board to revoke their previous action on <br />the rezoning of the Eubanks Road property. Ha stated that he was convinced <br />that a grave mistake would be made if the decision was allowed to stand as <br />the action taken by the Board was based on erroneus information. Mr. Oliva <br />stated that three sores of land from the University to the Town of Chapel <br />Hill would grant a one year period of time and thus would allow adequate time <br />for proper planning of any sanitary land fill area. Mr. Olive ureaented data <br />that he had acquired from the State Health Department and he advised the-Board <br />that the State Board of Health had agreed to review the matter. <br />Vice Chairman Henry S. Walker advised Mr. Olive that the Board would take <br />the matter of the sanitary landfill data under advisement, but that he did not <br />feel the Board was in a position to answer his request relative to the revoking <br />of its action to re-zone the Eubanks Road property. <br /> <br />
