Evelyn Murdock, Board Member of the <br />Orange, Person, Chatham i$ental Health Authority were present and presented <br />their budget request. <br />The agenoy is requesting the County to increase its allocation to them <br />from $10,000 annually to $20,000 annually. <br />Mr. J. T. Gobb®]., Chairman of the Orange County A3C Board, and Mr. <br />Burnioe Ward, Board Member were present to hear their presentation as the <br />ABC Board has been making a contribution to this agency. In the fiscal <br />year just closing the ABC I3oard approved about $9,300 for alcoholic related <br />aerviaes of this agency. During the coming year the Mental Health Authority <br />is requesting the ABC Board ~o increase its annual allocation to $20,000.00. <br />Mra. Walton stated funds for her agenoy were derived from several <br />souroes: <br />1. A federal grant for staffing purposes of 75~. The balance of their <br />staffing funds are provided by State and County appropriations. <br />2. A federal grant for alcoholism purposes of 9~. The balance of <br />funds spent under this grant are from State and County souraea. <br />3. Patient reaeipta are rapidly increasing. St is estimated that they <br />will aolleat around $9,000 3n Orange County during the coming year <br />from this source. <br />Dr. Silas Coley, Director of the Authority, discussed briefly the <br />Aut2iority~s work and programs. If the requested funds era available the <br />scope of their programs will be increased. However, the patient load <br />of the center is beginning to increase, because it is beginning to receive <br />more public acceptance. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br />_ Harvey D. Gatti s, Acting Clerk <br />I22NUTE5 OP' THE ORANGE COIINTY <br />BOARD OE COP~STSSIDPdERS <br />June 20, 1972 <br />The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in regular session in <br />the Diatriat Courtroom of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina <br />on Tuesday, June 20, 1972. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D, Bennett, and Commissioners William <br />C. Ray, Henry S, Wa7.ker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Chairman Bennett called upon Mrs. Richmond Bond to present the budget <br />request of the Chanel Hill Public Library for the aomiag year. <br />Mrs. Bond reported to the Board that their library now had 20,000 <br />registered readers and was aireulating 250,000 volumes annually. They <br />realize that many of their registered readers had moved away and were <br />considering a n®w registration. Mra. Bond stated their library now contained <br />about 35,000 volumes. 2'[rs. Bond also stated the library had been given, by <br />two citizens of Chapel Hill, a new bookmobile. The library wanted to place <br />this machine into operation this fall. <br />The Library Board requested an appropriation budget of $1q,5p0 for <br />the 1972-1973 fiscal pear. Tn the current fiscal year the County provided <br />this unit with ;$15,000.00. <br />Chairman Bennett advised Mrs. Bond that the Board of Commissioners would <br />take this request under consideration. <br />1 <br /> <br />
