September 8,2008 Assembly of Governments Meeting <br /> Approved: November 10,2008 <br /> Page 18 of 25 <br /> governments in this room and their coordinated efforts to restore the quality of life for the <br /> residents that have hosted the County's garbage for over 35 years. <br /> Tonight we call on you to coordinate your efforts to identify and apply for public <br /> financing to connect residents of the Historic Rogers-Eubanks neighborhood to safe and <br /> clean water and sewer services. At a recent meeting convened by OWASA staff;a <br /> positive conversation was started between impacted residents,and Chapel Hill,Carrboro, <br /> and Orange County staff to identify areas in the Historic Rogers-Eubanks neighborhood <br /> that are still in need of safe,clean,public water and smer services. <br /> 1 urge you to coordinate your efforts tonight,during future Assembly of Government <br /> meetings,and through the activitics of your respective staff to seek and apply for funding <br /> to meet the basic needs of the residents of the Historic Rogers-Eubanks neighborhood <br /> that have lived with the burden of the landfill for far too long. We.the members of <br /> OCOC,and our partners in RENA and CEER are happy to provide examples of funds <br /> that are available to Carrboro,Orange County,and Chapel!-Till including: <br /> 1)Home Funds; <br /> 2)NC Rural!conomic Development Center funds: <br /> 3)Community Development Block Grant funds; <br /> 4)Rural Utilities Service funds <br /> that should be pursued by you and your staff to finance water and sewer line extensions <br /> and hookups for households in the Rogers and Eubanks communities. <br /> Tonight,OCOC,RENA,and CEER pledge to work together with you to provide any <br /> supporting information that wilt help the members of this Assembly of Governments and <br /> their staff move this process forward to secure a safe and healthy future for the residents <br /> of the Rogers and Eubanks community. <br /> And tonight,we call on you to pledge the same.
