~5~ <br />PT]~POSE: it is the mutual desire of the Station, tine Service and the <br />Commissioners to prepare a soil survey of Orange County, :forth Carolina, It <br />is the belief of the cooperating parties that this soil survey will be to <br />their mutual benefit and to the benefit of the people of :dorth Carolina. The <br />Station, the Service, and the Cvmmisaionars each have need for this soil <br />survey and neither party alone has the resources to complete the survey within <br />the desired period, <br />AGREEf~NT: The aontraoting parties agree as follows: <br />1, The Commissioners Agree: <br />A, To pay to the North Carolina State IIniveraity Agricultural <br />~periment Station $11,000,00 between Suly 1, 1972 and <br />June 30, 1973. <br />These funds, together with any funds subsequently made available <br />by the Commissivnara trs ough any amendment or renewal of <br />this Agreement are to be used by the Station and the Service to <br />cover part of the costs of accelerating the soil survey of <br />Orange County, North Carolina. <br />The administrative unit of the Agricultural FF~periment Station involved in <br />and responsible for soil surveys and interpretations is the Department of <br />Soil Science, North Carolina State University, <br />2. The Station Agrees: <br />A, That the Director of Research of the Agricultural kbcperiment <br />Station or hie designated repreaentativa will act for the <br />Station in administering this Agreement. <br />B, To furnish such qualified personnel, facilities, and equipment <br />as are available to the Station at the time the work is to ba <br />done in order to carry out the terms of this Agreement. <br />C, To prepare a soil survey for Orange County, North Carolina, in <br />cooperation with the service and the Orange County Commissioners. <br />3, The Service Agr®es: <br />A. That the State Conservationist of the Service or his designated <br />repres®ntativa will act for the Service in administering this <br />Agreement. <br />S, To furnish such qualified personnel, facilities, and equipment <br />as are available to the Service at the time the wort is to be <br />done in order to carry out the terms of this Agreement. <br />C, To prepare a soil survey of Orange County, north Carolina, in <br />coop®ration with the Station and thq Orange County Commissioners, <br />la., It is mutually understood and agreed that: <br />A, Advance copies of soil survey field sheets, with adequate <br />explanation, shall be made available on mutually agreeable <br />terms, tv county planners and others interested in land uses, <br />subfect to the conditional terms of the cooperative agency <br />making the soil svxvay. Such sheets will be marked as "tentative" <br />or "preliminary and subfect to change." <br />B, Funds made available to the Station sad the Service under the <br />terms of this Agreement shall be expanded in accordance with the <br />fiscal regulations governing each party. <br />C, The names of any parties of this Agreement shall not be used by <br />the other in any advertising, publicity, or news releases, etc., <br />related to the work undertaken under the terms of the Agreement <br />without the prior written consent of the other, <br />D, The Service and the Station agree to absorb from their own <br />appropriations that portion of the estimated costs of this under- - <br />taking not covered by the amounts provided by the Commissioners. <br />E. This Agreement will remain in farce until June 30, 1973. <br />It may be affirmatively renewed as of the beginning of each fiscal <br />year through an exchange of correspondence between the cooperating - <br />parties, until its purposes are complete, Each renewal will set <br />forth the funds to be made available by the Commissioners. <br /> <br />,x . <br />
