<br />.+IHEREAS, notice of a public hearing, the matter to be considered, and the
<br />action proposed to be taken, was duly advertised in the News of Orange County,
<br />a newspaper published in Orange County, on the May 11, May 18, P4ay 25, and June
<br />1, 1972 as required by law, and
<br />~dYIEREAB, by said advertisement due notice has been given to all interested
<br />persons and Aarties owning party on said streets or in the vicinity of said ~
<br />streets of the matter to be considered and the action proposed to be taken; and
<br />SIHEREAS, it further appears that said streets have never been graded, cut,
<br />or opened and that same are not maintained by the State Highway Commission for --
<br />maintenance; and
<br />WHEREAS, it further appears to the satisfaction of the Board of Commissioners
<br />of Orange County that the closing of said streets as hereinafter described is
<br />not contrary to the public interest, and that no individual owning property in
<br />the vicinity of said streets or the subdivision in which said streets are Toasted
<br />will be deprived of a reasonable means of ingress, egress, and acaesa to his
<br />property, and that said streets as hereinafter described era not now affording
<br />access to any properties except those owned by Orange Builders, Tnc, who filed
<br />the petition, herein and who makes this request; and
<br />WHEREAS, it further appears that ld, Jams Rolt, Trustee, and First Citizens
<br />Bank & Trust Company, which said parties have an interest in the property owned
<br />by Orange Builders, Tnc. abutting and adjoining said streets, have joined in
<br />the petition requesting that said streets be closed; and

<br />COUNTY, that the hereinafter described streets, all of same lying in Stateside
<br />Subdivision in Chapel Hill Township, Orange County, State of PTorth Carolina,
<br />and same lying within the limits of Orange Caunty, be, and the same are hereby
<br />ordered closed pursuant to provisions of G,S, 153-9(17), it appearing to the
<br />satisfaction of the Board that the closing of said attests, as hereinafter
<br />described, is not contrary to the public interest and that no individual, firm,
<br />or corporation owning property in Stateside Subdivision or in the vicinity of
<br />said streets will thereby be deprived of reasonable means of ingress, egress,
<br />and access to his property. The said streets, which are hereby closed lie in
<br />Stateside Subdivision, Chapel Hi11 Township, Orange County, State of North -
<br />Carolina, and are more particularly described as follows:
<br />HIGHLAND DRIVE AND NORTHERN E;{TENSION OF STATEST_Dy DRIVE
<br />Being all of the streets entitled "Highland Drive" and that portion of .street
<br />shown and entitled "Stateside Drive" lying East of the east lines and east lines
<br />extended of Lots 27 and l~7, Stateside S~zbdivision, as shown on plats and surveys
<br />as recorded in Plat Book 13 at Page 51 and Plat Book 8 at Page 31(A), Orange
<br />County Registry, reference being hereby expressly made to said plats and surveys
<br />for a more particular description of said streets,
<br />PORTION OF BUENA VISTA WAY LYING SOUTH OF LOT 1
<br />Being all of the attests entitled "Buena Vista Way" lying between the southern
<br />property line extended of Lot 17, Stateside Subdivision and the northern edge of
<br />North Forest brive as shown on Aplat~ and surveys recorded in Plat Book 13 at Page
<br />51 and Plat Book 8 at Page 31(A), Orange County Registry, reference being
<br />hereby expressly made to said plats for a more particular description of said
<br />street.
<br />.IT IS FURTHER ORDERwD that a certified copy of this Resolution and Order
<br />shall be filed in the Office of the Register of Deeds of Orange County.
<br />Chairman Bennett read the following Resolution which had been adopted at the
<br />Orange County Democratic County Convention and forwarded to the Board:
<br />"RESOLU'T'ION: LA1V•D USE POLICY
<br />This Resolution passed by the Orange Caunty Democratic Convention
<br />May 27, 1972, is hereby submitted to the State Convention for consideration,
<br />and to those governmental bodies designated in the Resolution.
<br />WHEREAS the Town of Chapel Rill and Orange County are experiencing a
<br />rapid increase in population as a oonaeauenae of economic growth in the
<br />Research Triangle Park and fn the region generally,
<br />~+TRiREAS the expected accelerating rate of this economic expansion
<br />and population growth will have profound implications for the quality of
<br />life by the way it affeata the environment in Chapel Hill, Orange County,
<br />and the larger Piedmont Crescent Region,
