=.~ ~JG <br />thence with State Road 1718 in an Easterly direction to the place <br />and point of beginning. <br />THERE IS EXCEPTED from the above described fire district so much <br />of the Greater Chapel Hill Fire District as lies within the above -. <br />described area. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be - <br />forwarded to Honorable Marshall L. Cates, Chairman of Orange County -- <br />Board of Elections." -~ <br />IIpon motion of Commissioner Henry GJalker, seconded by Corrunissioner <br />Ira Ward, the above resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Remy Slalker: <br />"That whereas, a petition has been filed with the Board of <br />Commissioners requesting that an election be held within the area <br />hereinafter described for the pvxpose of submitting to the qualified <br />voters within such area the question of levying and collecting a <br />special tax on all taxable property in said district, of not exceeding <br />fifteen cents (15~) of the one hundred dollars (~Z00.00) valuation <br />of property, for the purpose of providing fire protection in said <br />district; and whereas, at least fifteen per cent of the resident <br />freeholders living in the hereinafter described area have signed said <br />petition; and, - <br />GThereas, said petition is filed with the Board of Commissioners <br />pursuant to Article 3A, Chapter 69, of the General Statutes of North <br />Carolina; and <br />Grhereas, such article requires the Board of Commissioners to <br />call an election within the hereinafter described area; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners <br />of Orange County, North Carolina, does hereby call for an election <br />within the hereinafter described district for the purpose of ` <br />submitting to the qualified voters therein the question of levying and <br />collecting a special tax on all taxable property ir. said district, of <br />not exceeding fifteen aenta (15f1.) pf the one hundred dollars (100.00) <br />valuation of property within said district. - <br />BE TT FURTHER RESOLVID, t]aat at said election those voters who <br />are in favor of levying a tax in said district for fire protection <br />therein shall vote a ballot on which shall be written or printed, <br />"IN FAVOR OF TAX FOR FIRE PROT;•aCTTDR7 IN F;110 FIRE DEPART~r IT DTSTRTCT". <br />Those who are against the levy of said tax shall vote a ballot on <br />which shall be written or printed the words, "AGAITdST TAX FOR FIRE <br />PROTECTION IN ENO FIRE DEPARTT~IIVT DISTRICT". <br />BE IT FQRTHE_R RESOLVED that the election shall be held on Tune 3, <br />1972, and that the Orange County Board of Elections shall conduct said <br />election as prescribed by law. <br />The district is described as follows: <br />BEGINNTTdG at a point East of Hillsborough, North Carolina, where <br />Stat® Road 1562 intersects with U. S. Highway 70 and II. S. By-pass 70; <br />thenoe in a Northerly direction with State Road 1562 to its intersection <br />with State Road 1561; thence with State Raad 1561 in a Northerly direotion <br />to its intersection with State Road lOD2; thence Northeasterly' with State <br />Road 1002 to its intersection with the Durham County-Orange County line; <br />thenoe with Durham County-Grange County line South to a point where said <br />line is intersected by State Road 1718; thence with State Road 1718 in a <br />~iesterly direction to ~,ts intersection with N. C, Righway 86; thence with <br />T7. C. 86 in a Northerly direction to its intersection with State Road <br />1723; thenoe with State Road 1723 in a Northeasterly direction to its <br />intersection with State Road 1710; thenoe with State Road 1710 in a .- <br />Northwesterly direction to its intersection with State Road 1709; thence <br />w3,th State Road 1709 in a Northerly direction to a point fast North of <br />Interstate 85; thence along a road running parallel to Interstate 85 <br />in an Easterly direotion to a point where said road intersects with _ <br />State Road 1711; thence with State Raed 1711 in a Northerly direction <br />to its interaeation with II. S, 70; thence with U. S. 70 in an Easterly <br />direotion to the place and point of beginning. <br />
