S, Highway 70; thence along U. S, Highway 70 in <br />an Easterly direation to the point or place oY beginning. <br />THERE IS EXCEPTED from the above described area so much thereof <br />as lies within the corporate limits of the Town of Hillsborough. <br />BE IT FURTRER RESOLVER, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded <br />to Honorable T4arshall L. Cates, Chairman of Oratsge County Board of <br />Elections." <br />Upon motion of Commissioner f?enxy tidalker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Ira Ward, the above resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />The following reao].ution was offered by Commissioner Henry Walker: <br />"That whereas, a petitior_ has been filed with the Board of Com~ <br />missionera requesting that an election be held within the area <br />hereinafter described for the purpose of submitting to the qualified <br />voters within such area the question of levying and collecting a <br />special tax on all taxable property in said district, of not exceeding <br />fifteen cents (15~) of the one hundred dollars ($100.00) valuation of <br />property, for the purpose of providing fire protection in said <br />district; and <br />tidhereas, at least fifteen per cent of the resident freeholders ', <br />living in the hereinafter described area have signed said petition; ~ <br />and <br />i <br />Whereas, said petition is filed with the Board of Commissioners j <br />pursuant to Article 3A, Chapter 69, of the General Statutes of North <br />Carolina; and <br />1+Phereas, such article requires the Board of Coa~.issioners to call <br />an election within the hereinafter described area: <br />NOW, THr:REP'ORE, Bc. IT RESOLVID, that the 3oard of Commissioners <br />of Orange County, North Carolina, does hereby call for an election <br />within the hereinafter described district for the purpose of <br />submitting to the qualified voters therein the question of levying <br />and collecting a apeaial tax on all taxable property in said district, j <br />of not exceeding fifteen cents (15~) of the one hundred dollars <br />($100.00) valuation of property within said district. <br />BE IT FARTHER RESOLVED, that at said election those voters <br />who are in favor of levying a tax in said diatriat for fire proteotion <br />therein shall vote a ballot on which shall be written or printed, <br />"IId FAVOR pF TAX FOR FIRE PROTECTION IN IIE:T HDPE FIRE DEPARTT4ET7T <br />DISTRICT". Those who are against the levy of said tax shall vote a , <br />ballot on which shall be written or printed the words, "AGAINST TAX <br />FOR FIRE PROTECTIOT7 IY NEIJ HOPE FIRE DEPARTI~NT DISTRICT". <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVER that the election shall be held on June <br />3, 1972, and that the Orange County Board of Elections shall conduct <br />said election as presoribed by law. <br />The diatriat ie described as fo1lo~,ra: <br />BEGINNING at a point where State Road 1718 intersects with <br />the Orange County-Durham County line; thence with the Orange <br />County-Durham County line South to a point where said line <br />intersects with the City Limits of the Town of Chapel R311; thence <br />with the City Limits of the Town of Chapel Hill as the same <br />• meanders in a I.lesterly direction to a point where the City Limits <br />interaeat with Estee Drive; thence with Estes Drive Westerly to <br />its intersection with N, C. Highway 86; thence with Righway 86 <br />_. North to a point where said Righway is intersected by State Road <br />1777; thenoe with State Road 1777 Westerly to a point where said <br />Road is intersected by the South Orange Fire Riatrict line, thence <br />with the South Orange Fire District in a Northwesterly direotion <br />to its intersection with State Road 1009; thence with State Road <br />1009 in a Northerly direation to its intersection with State Road <br />1723; thence with 1723 in a Tortheasterly direction to its inter- <br />section with Id. C. Highway 86; thence with Righway 86 in a <br />Southeasterly direction to its intersection with State Road 1718, <br />
