<br />The County Tax Assessor presented the following items:
<br />1, A request for refund of X9.97 from C, A, Coppla due to a double
<br />listing.
<br />Upon motion of Oommissioner Henry S, Wafter, seconded by Commissioner -~
<br />iiorman Walker, it was moved and adopted that said refund be made,
<br />2. A request for refund of $7,30 from J, R, Ceci 1 due to double listing
<br />and paym®nt._o£ double listing.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S, Walker, seconded by Cormiisaioner
<br />:dilliam C. R¢zr, it was moved and adopted, that the rsftu~d oP X7,30 to J. R.
<br />Cecil due to double listing and payment of double listing be approved,
<br />3, A request from the Accounting firm representing Plaza Associates,
<br />Ir. r„ for a refund of h2h3.97 tiahich had been charged, in 1971, against
<br />a motor vehicle owned by Plaza Associates. Discussion ensued as to
<br />whether Plaza Associates, Inc, and ?lazy Associates were owned by one
<br />and the same parties, The County administrator advised the Board
<br />that Plaza Associates, Inc., and Plaza Associates were not the same.
<br />Upon motion o£ Commissioner William C. :day, seconded by Cemmissioner
<br />Norman [dalker, it was moved and adopted that the County Tax Assessor bill
<br />Plaza Associates in the amount of ;263,97, and that if said amount is received
<br />in payment of taxes, then a check be issued to Plaza Associates, Inc. upon
<br />receipt of the tax monies from the prover owner.
<br />L., A request from Jeffrey Piazzo, a dental student, who in 1971, properly
<br />" listed his dental equipment at a value of $2,000. It appears that '
<br />the currant retail value of the dental equipment is substantially less
<br />than the tax value indioatea and T~2r, T'Tazzo is requesting a refund in
<br />the amount of $26,3K.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A, Ward, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Norman Walker, it was moved and adopted that the request of Dr, Iiazxo be
<br />declined.
<br />5, A request from Artelia Degraffenreidt, a carpenter, for a refund in
<br />the amount of $20.L~.0, I•Tr. Degraffenreidt erroneously listed, in
<br />7.971, his tools at a value of $3,000 instead of $300.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner ~dilliam C, Ray, seconded by Commisaioti~er:~
<br />Norman Walker, it was moved and adopted, that a refland of $20,40 be granted
<br />to PIr, Degraffer_reidt, beoauae of the apparent error in hie 1971 tax listir_g,
<br />Upon motion of Co~aniasioner Henry S, Walker, seconded by Commissioner
<br />[villiam C. Ray, it was moved and adopted, that the Board of Commissioners
<br />request the County Board of Electior_s to call a Fire Protection District
<br />Election and to also sat the date of said eleotion.
<br />The County Attorney advised the Board th..at a suit for damages had been
<br />filed by Forrest Heath agair_st the County and that said suit had boon scheduled
<br />to bo heard on Wednesday, b7arch ~3, 1972, before the -forth Carolina Court of
<br />Aroeals,
<br />Thera being no Further Business to come before the Board the meeting was
<br />adjovrr_ed to meat again on 1•Ionday, P4arch 27, 1972, at S P,I~I, in the Courtroom
