<br />Chairman Bennett recognized Bohn Pridgen, Engineer on the Seven Mile Creek
<br />Reservoir protect, Mr. Pridgen reported that the surveys relativ® to the location
<br />of the proposed dam had not been received. He cited the difftaulty ?~hich was
<br />being encountered by hi.a firm and the firm which had been retained to complete
<br />the details of all mapping. T~iscusaion ensued cor_cerninb the possibility of
<br />the Coixnty's taking options on land in order to proceed with the matter of the
<br />Sever_Tnile Creek Reservoir. 1•Ir. Pridgen asked that the Board express their
<br />wishes as to the procedure they wanted to follow. Aiscussic.n ensued,
<br />Chairman Bennett stated that he felt it was the desire of the ',3oard to
<br />proceed with the acquiring of options and this would allow them to enter uoon
<br />J the premises of making the soil bearing teat.
<br />Chairman Bennett appointed L, P^_. Cheshire, County Attorney, S. I•i. Gattis,
<br />County Administrator, and John ?ridgen as & COmmltt9e to s9rve with him in the
<br />assuring of the options on the land which v*ill be intimidated by the location
<br />of the proposed reservoir.
<br />Commissioner TnTilliam C, Ray suggested that a park area could also be planned
<br />with the reservoir site. It was pointed out that the availability of land
<br />would be the contrpllin~ factor of whether or not a park area could be
<br />considered.
<br />Upon motion of Corrdnisaioner Henry S, walker, seconded by Commi.saioner William
<br />C, Ray, it was moved and adopted, that the comm~.ttae appointed by Chairman
<br />Bennett proceed with the negotiations far the acquiring of options on the
<br />properties surrounding the proposed Seven Mile Creek Reservoir. ~'
<br />Commissioner TJilliam C. Ray presented a letter from the Chairman of the
<br />Cedar Grove Raritan Clubs road committee. Said latter reads as follows:
<br />"As Chairman of the Public Highway Committee of the Cedar Grove
<br />Rvsitan Club, we the undersigned, after having made a careful survey
<br />of the roads in our area, and upon recommendation of the Cedar vrove
<br />Raritan Club, submit the following projects which we feel need your
<br />attention at this time.
<br />1. To Black-top S. R, Road 'r1~03 leading from S.R, 71K?'~ to Person
<br />County line, a distance of 1.6 miles.
<br />2. To Slaclc-top S,R, Road 71350 leading fro-r_ S, R. ==1357 to .S.R,
<br />;;11001, a distance of 1.3 miles.
<br />3. To stabilize and upgrade S,R. 71368 leading from N.C. 1r9
<br />(loon road) back to IT.C, 1;.9, a distance of 2.5 miles.
<br />1F. To stabilize and upgrade S,R. '-`1355 leading from Id,C, t36 to
<br />S,R. F,_357, a distance of .6 miles.
<br />5. To stabilize and upgrade S.R. :;11512 from S.R, x1506 to S,R.
<br />,1513, a distance of 1.5 miles.
<br />6. To stabilize and u»grade S.R. '17.35q from S.R. ,':.11358 to S.R.
<br />7136D, a distance of 1.1 miles."
<br />Road petitions for SR 7{131T2, SR 71310, SR 13b1 and Purefoy Frive were
<br />submitted and the Clerlctaas authorized to forward same to the State Righway
<br />Commission.
<br />Chairman Bennett recognized 'Bill Laws, Acting Zonir_g Cffiaer. I?r. Laws
<br />submitted a plat entitled ''I:F.I5PE3TVG PI_~ES SU3vIVTSIOT". L-Te explained that a
<br />bond wilt be submitted for the completion of said project and that said plat
<br />T•rolxld. not be recorded until such bond had been received.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Renxy S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner
<br />?dorman GJalker, it was moved and adopted, that Chairman Bennett be authorized tc
<br />sign the approval certificate on said plat, but that said plat not be recorded
<br />until the surety bond had been received.
<br />?'Ir. Laws presented a plat entitled "';TDLP~S PC'dA." Re stated that said plat
<br />had bean approved by the proper zoning authority.
