s: ~l '7 Pace 392 <br />Chairman Bennett announoed that this was the time and date for the Board <br />to meet as a Board of Equalizat3.on and Review. Chairman Bennett requested the <br />Tax Supervisor to submit hi.a recommendations relative to the properties owned <br />by Town House, Inc. and by the Gerotor P4ay Corporation. P2r. Gattis recommended <br />that there be no change made in the tax value for the year 1970. He stated <br />that hie recommendation was based on the feat that the ahangea requested by the <br />property owners do not fa11 within the provision of G.B. 105-2$7 which <br />prescribes the limits which property valuations may be changed in a non <br />re-valuation year. __ <br />Upon motion of Cotmni,asioner William C. Ray, seconded by' Commissioner Ira <br />A. Ward, it was moved and adopted, that the request of Town House, Ins. for <br />the reduction of tax valuation on the property located in Chapel Hill be <br />denied. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner <br />William C. Ray, it wsa moved and adopted, that the request of Gerotor May Carporati.on <br />for reduction of tax valuation on their property located in Chapel Hill, be <br />denied. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board was ad~ournad <br />to meet again on September 27, 1971. <br />Harvey D. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUiVTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />September 27, 1971 '; <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in ad,journad session <br />in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina at <br />S o'clock P.M. on Monday, September 27, 1971. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D, Bennett and Commissioners Henry S. <br />walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: Covmd.saioner W111iam C. Rey. <br />Ns. Burch Compton, Dr. Sarah Dent and Mr. Gordon Liner, Officers of the Orange <br />County Rescue Squad, met with the Board to discuss ambulance service in Northern <br />Orange County. They explained the Rescue Squad waa finding it almost impossible <br />to secure enough trained volunteer help to man the daytime calla this organization <br />moat handle. The Officers of the Squad have been dianuasing this problem for some <br />time and now feel they must move towards acquiring some paid help to furnish thS.a <br />service during the day. At present the Squad members can continue providing <br />service during the night and on weekends. Since the financial burden of providing <br />two daytime workers is mere than the Squad can assume at this time they feel it <br />necessary to solicit financial aid for the aolutien of the problem from the County. <br />Da.acussion ensued. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Comrziasioner Remy S. <br />walker, it was moved and adopted, that the County make available, from funds <br />previously appropriated for Rescue Sgvad purpose a, 7,500.00. These funds are <br />to be used by the Rescue Squad to pay a portion of the salarp of two persona <br />*,hey propose to hire to render ambulance service during the daytime. <br />Sheriff C, D. Anight reported he had hired five of the eight new deputies <br />the Board of Commissioners hadapproved in the last budget. He reqquested the <br />Board of Commissioners allew him to hire with a sixty percent (60~b) grant from <br />the CommS.ttee on Law and Order, a radio dispatcher to serve in his office during <br />the day. After some discussion the Board told the Sheriff tv proceed with this <br />plan. <br /> ..:: <br /> <br />
