<br />E:-^•: ~ PAGE ~~j. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner Ira <br />A. Ward, it wsa moved and adopted, that the State Eighway Commission ba requested <br />to place signs at the Efland and Eno interchanges designating the rov.te to <br />highway 86 North. <br />Discussion ensued relative to the naming of the road which runs in <br />front of the General Electric plant. <br />Commissioner Renry Walker pointed out that to turn right off of highway <br />__ ~ 70 onto the St. Mary~a Road, when you are headed Wast, is a difficult task <br />_ especially if another car headed South is waiting to oroas Highway 70; in <br />that, the road is narrow and the turn is sharp. He suggested that the <br />State Righway Commission be oontaated and requested to inveatiga:te the <br />intersection of St. Mary~a Road and N. C. Righway 70. The Clerk was <br />instructed to write the State Highway Commission. <br />Chairman Sennett recognized Norman Lang, Zoning 0£ficar. Mr. Long <br />requested that the Board set a date, time and place for a publ3a hearing on <br />zoning matters. It was agreed th~.t the public hearing on zoning matters <br />would ba scheduled for Thursday, October 2$, 1971, at 8 P.M. in the Courtroom <br />of the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Tha County Accountant advised that a date should also be set for the <br />Board to meet as a Board of Equalization and Review. It was aggreed that <br />the Board would meet as a Board of Equalization and Review at 8 P.M. 8n <br />Monday, September 13, 1971, in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse <br />in Hillsborough. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board said meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on Monday, September 13, 1971. <br />Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker. <br />Members Abeent: Nona <br />IIpon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner Henry <br />5. Walker, it was moved and adopted, that Dr. Alan E. Stiven be appointed as <br />a member of the Chapel Hill Board of Ad~uatments. i <br />Disoussion ensued relative as to the convenient time for a. meeting <br />with the Alamanae County Board of Commissioners. It was agreed that the i <br />Board would meat with the Alamanae County Board of Commissioners on Monday, i <br />September 20, 1971, at 8 P.M. to discuss the eelection of a consultant who <br />would make a study as to the need for a Juvenile detention facility. <br />Chairman Bennett recognized Fred S. Cates, Mayor of the Town of Hillsborough, <br />Sohn Roberts and Jank Martin, members of the Town Board of Aldermen. These <br />Town representatives were present to disausa with the Board as to the plans for <br />providing sewerage services to the site pf the proposed Whitaker Corporation <br />__ plant. Chairman Sennett stated ,that the Board was not in the position to <br />discuss the matter as the preliminary report, which was being made by John <br />Pridger_, had not been received by the Board. <br />
