ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: January 22, 2009 <br /> Action Agenca K <br /> Item No. <br /> SUBJECT: Change in BOCC Regular Meeting Schedule for 2009 <br /> DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br /> ATTACHMENT (S): <br /> INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Donna Baker, 245-2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider two changes in the County Commissioners' regular meeting calendar <br /> for year 2009. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County <br /> Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change in <br /> the Regular Meeting Schedule: <br /> • Adding a BOCC Meeting (closed session) on Monday, February 2, 2009 and <br /> Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 9:30am and 1:00pm for the purpose of: <br /> "considering the qualifications, competence, character, fitness, conditions of <br /> appointment, or conditions of initial employment of an individual public officer or <br /> employee or prospective public officer or employee" NCGS § 143-318.11(a)(6) — at <br /> Southern Human Services Center; and <br /> • Adding a BOCC Meeting, where four or more County Commissioners could be in <br /> attendance, on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 7:30pm at the Southern Human <br /> Services Center in Chapel Hill (see below for details) <br /> The OWASA Board of Directors has scheduled a Joint Meeting with the Carrboro, Chapel Hill <br /> and Orange County elected Boards to present its proposed changes in the Water Conservation <br /> Standards for OWASA customers. This will be a 20-minute presentation, beginning at 7:30pm, <br /> followed by discussion. <br /> Then, at approximately 8:45pm, Orange County's greenhouse gas study consultant from <br /> Toronto will present the Countywide Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and Forecast. The <br /> County will be inviting the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners to attend this portion of the <br /> meeting as well. This initiative is a joint project of the County and towns. <br />
