Planner II <br />• Ron Holdway, Environmental Sanitarian <br />Barry Jacobs, Planning Board .Chair <br />MAR 9 1988 <br />At the last Agenda Review meeting. questions arose <br />regarding. the ability of Environmental Health personnel to <br />denote .primary and back-up nitrification fields on <br />subdivision plats. The issue emerged from a recommendation by <br />OWASA that the fields be denoted on such plats. Two <br />subdivisions, Albert Reaves Estates and James Mark Vine, were <br />withheld from the Commissioners consideration pending the <br />collection of information related to the issue. <br />Preliminary information has been obtained and is <br />provided below. <br />With regard to preliminary plat approvals, Environmental <br />Health requires that road centerlines and property corners be <br />staked in the field as a minimum. Another method used by <br />surveyors is to lay off a one-acre grid system on the <br />property. The approximate suitable area required for primary <br />• and back- up fields is then identified, by "pacing" from <br />centerlines or property corners, for each proposed lot. <br />Specific designations for each type of field are not denoted, <br />however, since the location of the house is not known. and <br />fields may have to be shifted accordingly.
