MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY = .."] pAG€ ~s9 <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS °''~ <br />June 7, 1971 <br />The Board oP County Commissioners of Orange County met in regular session <br />at 10;00 o~clock A. M. on Monday, June 7, 1971, in the Commissioners Room at the <br />Courtheuae in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />~- ., <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. <br />Req, Henrq 5, Walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: None - <br />In the abaenas of the Clerk to the Beard the minutes of the previous <br />meatinga were read by' the County Administrator and approved by the $oard. <br />Commissioner William C, Ray advised the $oard that Lacy Gibson, District <br />Manager of the Fermata Home Administration, had died and that he felt some type <br />of acknowledgement should be made to Mrs. Gibson since Mr. Gibson,-had worked <br />for many years with County Government. The Clerk was instructed to extend to <br />Mrs. Gibson the condolence of the Board relative to her loss. <br />Chairman Sennett recognized Coolidge Porterfield, Executive Director oP the <br />Orange County Housing Authority. Mr. Porterfield stated that the Joint Orang~- <br />Chatham Community Action Agenaq~s budget had been cut for the current fiscal gear <br />and there was a possibility that the Housing Authority would have its offioe <br />staff funded by the Federal Housing Authority of the Communitq Action Agency, <br />therefore, they plan to cut the housing pregram from its current budget and this <br />meant his position with the Community Action Agencq would expire on August 31, 1971. <br />Chairman Bennett recognized Tom Ward, Director oP the Social Services , <br />Department. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S.
